All too often owners might hire an architect or a design build contractor to advise them on what to do with their historic property. However, the majority of architects and builders are not experts in the historical context and importance of such properties. As a professional architectural historian (with a PhD from MIT) and trained architect with years of architectural practice experience, I can offer a variety of services to advise owners of historic properties. This includes assessing the historic and/or architectural significance of a building, advising owners on the variety of options available to them in order to maintain the historical integrity of their property (options such as preservation, rehabilitation, restoration etc.). If you buy or own a historic property I can work with you and the architect and contractor to develop conceptual design solutions in order to accomplish your goals. Additionally, I can also provide project management/oversight of your renovation project.
My goal is to enable owners to become knowledgeable about, and have pride in, their historic properties by maintaining their relevance without compromising their historic character, and ultimately adding value.
